Vacuum cleaners are an essential part of your home appliances especially when you have rugs and carpets in your home. They are a great tool for cleaning up the dirt and dust particles from such surfaces. In order to effectively use the vacuum cleaner, you should know how to change your vacuum bag.

Here is a good video put together by Crucial Vacuum we found on YouTube.com that explains how simple changing your vacuum’s bag really is.

It is advisable to change the vacuum bag at least once a month if you do not have a lot of activities going on around the house. But with pets and children around, you may need to change the vacuum bag more frequently because greater amounts of dirt get sucked up into the bag. Pet hairs and the dirt tracked in by the children can fill up the bag faster.

It is also good to understand the design of the vacuum cleaner. This is because there are some varieties that have filters which trap fine particles. When you change your the vacuum bag it is also advisable to replace the filter, though this may not need to be done as frequently as changing the bag. If you find the task of changing the bag too daunting, you may also consider buying a vacuum cleaner with a plastic bag where the dirt collects. These are usually much easier to empty.

Bissell Vacuum Dealer in DenverAt our Denver repair shop, we have been authorized as a Bissell dealership and warranty service center, for nearly twenty years. While the Bissell Pro series shampooers can’t compete with commercial units, they are a fraction of the cost and have evolved into a useful product for home use. The one major drawback is, if not properly used, they can be high maintenance. The following are a few suggestions and instructions on how to get high performance and long life from the Bissell pro series.

1.  The Bissell shampooer Is not a vacuum. It is designed to remove ground in dirt and stains from the carpet. It does a poor job picking up surface dirt and hair. Hair collects on the brush roll and clogs the nozzle and hose. Thoroughly vacuum the area that is to be shampooed of all hair and debris. Then vacuum again. For wet spills like pet accidents, thoroughly clean any solid waste from the area to be shampooed.
2.  For shampoo, do not use dish or laundry soap and avoid any product that may create suds or foam. Avoid Oxi-Clean, baking soda or other powder based cleansers. You must use a non-foaming shampoo rated for extraction type shampooers. Officially, we recommend Bissell shampoo but we have had good luck with quality generics like Stain-X.

Even before Eureka launched their “Red Line” collection of commercial vacuum cleaners in 1972, I have been recommending their upright and canister vacuum cleaner designs for commercial use. Adding features like; a shake out bag, “Quick Clean” base, commercial grade cords and improved motor and brush roll designs to their standard upright model, Sanitaire became the standard for commercial vacuums in the USA. Time tested is the best description I can find to describe the Sanitaire line of vacuums. Millions of commercial users have proven the performance, reliability and value of the Sanitaire. At my Fathers vacuum repair shop in Denver, we sold a mountain of Sanitaire vacuums, with very few returned under warranty. A simple, efficient design gave commercial consumers the option of doing maintenance and repairs, on their own vacuums, making the Sanitaire an even better value over the long haul.

I supplemented my income in college by cleaning office buildings and I can personally recommend the Sanitaire upright vacuum and the Mighty Might handheld canister, as the best cleaning tandem available. Of course, over forty years in the family business, I have recommend and sold other brands of vacuum for commercial use but, personally, my choice has always been Sanitaire.

When Eureka introduced their “Blue Line” to the already successful Sanitaire collection, they added features for residential users. Most notably, the micro filtration bag and true HEPA sealed filtration. Combined with light-weight options and a price point that can fit any budget, residential users could finally have the same value and reliability as commercial users. Later when Eureka’s parent company, Electrolux regained the right to use its own brand name, it also began selling Electrolux-branded vacuums and expanded the Sanitaire line to include new features like flow-through motors and dirt cups.

Now branded as “Sanitaire by Electrolux” they currently offer uprights, canisters, backpacks, floor machines, industrial carpet cleaners, air movers and accessories for commercial cleaners. As an authorized Electrolux dealer, Action Sew & Vac proudly offers the Sanitaire line as well as other Electrolux products. We are also an authorized service and warranty station and provide top quality service with a lifetime of experience repairing their products. Sanitaire products also are backed by a network of more than 1,200 warranty service centers throughout the United States, with parts and supplies readily available anywhere.
